One person has died following a crash involving a truck and a pedestrian on State Highway 3 near Blueskin Road, Westmere, Whanganui.

Emergency services responded to the scene around 10:15am today.

One person was located in a critical condition and CPR was commenced however they were unable to be resuscitated.

The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Fatal water-related incident, Mount Wellington:

A man has died following a water-related incident off the coast of Mount Wellington, Auckland today.

Police responded to Mount Wellington around 3:45pm following reports of a body floating in the water.

The deceased has since been recovered from the water.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.

Murder charged filed in Avondale death

A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in Avondale overnight.

Police were called to Holly Street shortly after 1:30am where they located the woman’s body inside a property.

A scene examination is ongoing and will extend into tomorrow.

A 35-year-old man charged with murder has been remanded in custody to appear in Auckland District Court on Monday.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death, and locals can expect a Police presence in the area over the next couple of days.

Fatal crash, Clarkville

Police can confirm two people have died in a crash in Clarkville, near Kaiapoi overnight.

Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Butchers Road about 12:10am, and located two people deceased.

A third person in the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Butchers Road is expected to remain closed between Moodys Road and Christmas Road for much of the day, while repairs to a power pole take place.

Unexplained death in Nelson

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a man in Nelson.

Around 8pm last night, Police conducting an unrelated visit to an address on Suffolk Road, Stoke became aware of a deceased person at that location.

The man’s body appears to have been there for some time, and the circumstances are unclear at this stage.

Police will be engaging ESR to assist with a full scene examination.

This is expected to take several days, and will include a forensic post-mortem in due course.

The public can expect to see an increased Police presence in the Stoke area while we carry out these inquiries.
