Events across Massey University’s three campuses last week have highlighted the work being done by passionate staff members to decrease Massey’s environmental footprint.

The events were the first of their kind at Massey, and Sustainability Transformation Manager Dr Sal Lampkin hopes they will get bigger and better each year.

“This year the events are very much in their infancy, as we raise the profile of what’s already being done around Massey and inspire our students and staff to think about ways they can change practices for more sustainable ones,” Dr Lampkin says.

Visibility of what’s already happening around the campuses is part of the process of helping people to transition their mindset to more sustainable practices, she adds.

As well as information about sustainability practices at Massey, students and staff were invited to test their recycling know-how, taste vegan treats, learn about gardening and composting, cycle for electricity and take part in discussions around why sustainability is important for New Zealand.

Students or staff who are interested in sustainability can contact Dr Sal Lampkin at S.Lampkin@massey.ac.nz.
