Tasman Police are responding to a serious crash on State Highway 1 at Mount Pleasant, south of Picton.
The crash was reported about 9pm, between Wairau Road and Lindens Road.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and the road is expected to be closed for some time.
A detour on Queen Charlotte Drive is only suitable for small vehicles, and motorists should expect significant delays.
