A number of people, including several baggage handlers and gang members, have been charged this morning in Auckland following an ongoing joint operation by NZ Police and Customs into alleged drug smuggling into New Zealand.

Detective Inspector Paul Newman and Customs Manager Intelligence, Bruce Berry, will be available to speak to media about this operation at a press conference at 2pm at the Auckland Central Police Station, 13-15 College Hill, Freemans Bay.

Media are asked to arrive by 1.45pm and sign in at reception where they will be brought inside the station to set up.
