Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on SH 1, Rakaia.
Police were notified of the crash, involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, at around 6:30am.
Indications are one person has been seriously injured.
The road is closed and traffic management is being put in place.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
