Emergency services are responding to a single-vehicle crash on Centennial Highway, southbound, under the Newlands bridge over-ramp.
Police were notified of the crash at about 4.45pm.
The car is reported to have been on fire and the single-occupant has serious injuries.
One southbound lane is still operating however this incident will cause considerable delays and motorists are asked to take alternate routes.
