The Governor-General, The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy and Sir David Gascoigne will spend three days in Waitangi in the lead-up to Waitangi Day.

In addition to her annual engagements with the Royal New Zealand Navy, Dame Patsy will be welcomed with a powhiri in front of the Whare Runanga on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, attend a meeting of the Waitangi National Trust Board and host a lunch for members of the Diplomatic Corps.

She will also attend the unveiling of the memorial for the British soldiers who fell at the Battle of Te Ruapekapeka.

On their return to Wellington, Dame Patsy and Sir David will host a garden reception for 500 people  at Government House on Waitangi Day.

Wednesday 3 February

0930    Powhiri and commemoration at Te Ruapekapeka

Thursday 4 February

1000    Powhiri at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. [Dame Patsy will be available for media stand-up at the conclusion of the powhiri.]

1845    Reception on board HMNZS Otago

Friday 5 February

1030    Waitangi National Trust Board Meeting

1200    Diplomatic Corps luncheon, Duke of Marlborough, Russell

1700    NZDF Evening Ceremony, including Beat Retreat, Waitangi Treaty Grounds

Saturday 6 February

1630    Waitangi Day garden reception at Government House in Wellington
