Motorists are reminded that new permanent speed limits for State Highway 3 (SH3) between Waitara and Bell Block in Taranaki come into effect tomorrow (18 Dec 2020).
The new speed limits will create a consistent 80km/h speed limit between Waitara and Bell Block, improving safety on the highway ahead of the busy holiday period.
Motorists should keep a look out for the new speed limit signs and take extra care on the route while everyone is getting used to the new speed limits.
Locals are asked to let family and friends travelling to the region for the holidays know about the new speed limits.
These permanent speed limit changes follow engagement with the Police and road user groups, as well as consultation with the public.
From Friday 18 December the permanent speed limits are:
