Update: Whakatane death being treated as homicide

Police are treating the death in Whakatane in the early hours of 24 October as a homicide.

A man was taken to Whakatane Hospital with stab wounds, where he later died.

An investigation into the circumstances of his death is making good progress, however no arrests have been made at this stage.

A scene examination has been completed.

Police do not believe there is an ongoing risk to the general public.
