Organise PLD “for teachers, by teachers”.

PPTA is seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to serve as PPTA representatives on the Teachers’ Refresher Course Committee (TRCC) for 2021.

What does the TRCC do?

The TRCC was established in 1946 to organise PLD “for teachers by teachers”.  This PLD is generally three day residential courses in the school holidays.  Some of the courses are organised in conjunction with subject or professional associations, while for others there is a course committee set up especially for the purpose.  Courses target either teachers in a particular sector, or teachers across the sectors.   For more information, go to trcc.org.nz.

Who is on the Committee?

The Committee is made up of representatives from PPTA (3), NZEI (3 for primary and 3 for early childhood).

Where, when and how often does the Committee meet?

The Committee meets in Wellington CBD. Meetings are from 4pm to 5:30pm on a Thursday afternoon, and take place two or three times a term.

What are the requirements for a TRCC Committee member?

  • Membership of PPTA
  • Availability to attend regular meetings in either in-person or via Zoom
  • An interest in teacher professional learning, including the work of the TRCC
  • Willingness to contribute to discussion by email between meetings

How will nominees be chosen?

The President and General Secretary will assess the self-nomination forms and choose the most suitable representatives. Their decision-making will take into account such factors as relevant experience, likely contribution, etc.

How to express interest

Members wishing to be considered for the TRCC Committee should complete this online form by 5pm on Friday 20 November 2020.

If you want to talk about the position with someone, email Kirsty Farrant (kfarrant@ppta.org.nz).
