Source: Press Release Service

New Zealand Registered Financial Service Provider Techemynt (https://www.techemynt.com/) today announced the further accessibility for the first New Zealand dollar stablecoin, $NZDS. Techemynt has launched a new website and investor portal, streamlined processes for buying and staking $NZDS, as well as additional exchange and OTC listings, all of which will widen the reach of the stablecoin.

Over the last few decades, the New Zealand Dollar quickly rose to become one of the top traded forex currencies in the world, widely known for its resilience, adaptability and market trustworthiness. $NZDS is backed 1:1 with physical New Zealand Dollars in a cash and cash equivalent treasury managed by a New Zealand registered financial services provider, $NZDS offer crypto users the stability of the New Zealand Dollar with the utility that digital currencies allow. The stablecoin has been designed to be 100 percent transparent at all times, with EY attestation reports posted on Techemynt’s website.

“Techemynt is striving to nurture a healthy ecosystem for $NZDS. Today we are pleased to announce our market maker has gone live and so have several exchange integrations. These include trading pairs for $NZDS against BTC, ETH and USDC on both Blocktane DEX as well as Dassetx.com the CEX. Furthermore we are finalizing integrations with other leading exchanges and beginning to cycle liquidity from these markets to even out the pool ratios on DFX.finance,” stated Fran Strajnar, Executive Director of Techemynt.com. “With a healthy secondary market and attractive double digit APY available on DFX.finance these integrations create a competitive environment for individuals and institutions to put their NZ Dollars to work in a self-custodial manner. Our sister company Techemy.Capital is also offering a white-glove service for users looking for a custodied/turn-key yield solution.”

Accredited and wholesale investors can purchase $NZDS directly from Techemynt through their onboarding portal, as well as secondary markets including New Zealand-based exchange Dasset and Web3 exchange DFX. With $NZDS going live on Blocktane and Dasset, this expands the on and off ramps.

“We are thrilled to bring access to more top quality national currency stablecoins such as $NZDS to broaden the reach of our global liquidity, and to partner with a top tier issuer such as Techemynt,” said Blocktane’s CEO John Willock.

A curated investor portal has been launched, which provides off-chain support, on-boarding assistance, and buying and selling services. The Portal caters to market makers, individuals, liquidity partners and has a $100k NZD minimum transaction size. Retail users may prefer one of the growing number of centralized or decentralized exchanges to buy/dispose of $NZDS.

“From here, the liquidity and AuM of $NZDS will continue to grow and we expect to quickly move to the next phase which includes blue-chip DeFi integrations, further yield and arb opportunities as well as integrations to wallet providers and everyday payments/FinTech apps and services. Our aim is to have $NZDS offer regulated, fast and liquid opportunities with the full transparency of blockchain as a foundation to encourage startups and incumbents alike to innovate and integrate with $NZDS,” added Strajnar.

This growth of accessibility creates opportunities for more people to buy and sell in a more stable, transparent way. To learn more about $NZDS please visit https://www.techemynt.com/ or follow on Twitter @techemynt.

Kelray Heating Expands to Canadian Market

0

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

Homegrown heating company, Kelray Heating are introducing their range of infrared outdoor heaters to the Canadian market.

Launching earlier this year, Kelray Heating Canada is looking to build upon their parent company’s success in New Zealand. Kelray Canada hopes that similarities in atmospheric conditions and parallels in lifestyle habits of Canadians will mean their products are similarly embraced in the region.

Kelray Heating are New Zealand’s sole local manufacturer of infrared outdoor heaters and were founded to solve issues unique to the country.

“Unfortunately, outdoor heaters manufactured abroad are not made for our harsh coastal conditions”, explains Kelray Heating NZ owner, Clive Menkin. “Most outdoor heaters available to Kiwis use 304 grade stainless steel or anodized aluminum. While this may be sufficient in inland areas, 304 grade is susceptible to corrosion in saline environments”.

“This caused a lot of frustration among home and business owners here in NZ, who were finding their outdoor heaters deteriorating in just a couple of years or so”.

Kelray set out to solve this problem and created the world’s first electric infrared heater constructed using marine-grade 316 stainless steel. 316 grade stainless steel includes added molybdenum, an element that drastically enhances corrosion resistance to chlorides.

After over a decade of success in the New Zealand market, Kelray’s expansion into the Canadian market will be the company’s first major step into taking its product global.

“Canada was the perfect fit for us”, says Menkin. “The mixture of coastal town and cities with alpine environments on the Eastern and Western seaboards is very similar to the conditions our heaters have been tried and tested in here in New Zealand”.

“A lot of the feedback we have heard coming out of Canada echoes the frustrations we were hearing in New Zealand when Kelray first set out to produce our heaters”.

“Home and business owners don’t want to be replacing their outdoor heaters every couple of years – they deserve an investment that lasts.

Kelray Canada will be operated by Menkin’s daughter and son-in-law and based out of Squamish, north of Vancouver, on the Sea to Sky Highway.

Kelray is currently exporting their outdoor heaters from New Zealand for assembly in Canada, however, they plan to manufacture their heaters in Canada in late 2022.

Giftbox Raise Over $17,000 For I Am Hope Charity

0

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

Online gift retailer Giftbox Boutique has raised $17,864 for the I Am Hope charity through their pre-Christmas donation drive. Every year leading into the Christmas period, Giftbox Boutique runs their red ribbon campaign.

The red ribbon campaign offers customers the option to replace the standard black ribbon with a festive red ribbon for an additional $1. Giftbox Boutique then matches all these donations resulting in a $2 donation for every gift box that leaves their depot with a red ribbon.

This year the company set a goal to make this red ribbon appeal their most successful to date. They managed to blow last years’ donation out of the water, doubling their collection from 2020.

The 2020 red ribbon appeal saw an impressive $8,804 raised for the SPCA.

“We are over the moon with the results of our 2021 red ribbon appeal”, says Giftbox Boutique Director, Katie Gray. “Being able to double our donation from last year is a real testament to our supportive customer base”.

The 2021 red ribbon appeal varied slightly from past appeals. In the past, the company left it up to their Facebook followers to vote on the chosen charity for that year.

“We were a little worried that removing the voting aspect could hurt our chances of raising a large sum. After such a testing year, we wanted to contribute to a charity that contributed to supporting Kiwis with their mental health. I am Hope was the perfect fit”.

“We are so happy that our lovely customers felt the same way and really threw their support behind it”.

The next ribbon appeal from Giftbox Boutique will commence in the lead up to Mother’s Day and will be available on the purchase of all Mother’s Day Gifts.

New Fin-tech App Takes the confusion out of setting up a small business

0

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

A new Kiwi fin-tech app, afirmo, designed to help business owners get small business essentials right, is getting ready to launch in early 2022.

Entrepreneur and afirmo founder, Robert Rolls, says the afirmo toolkit of services will be released in stages from March. He says these services will help people set-up and scale-up their small businesses with ease. “Essentially, afirmo takes the confusion out of small business – it makes setting up and getting established easy – painless – with tools in marketing, tax, insurance and more, to simplify, strengthen and streamline the business”.

Starting a small business has, in the past, been complex, confusing and costly – requiring multiple processes, duplicate fill-in forms with IRD, NZBN, MBIE, IPONZ, banks, web domain registrars, email providers, graphic designers, online and media advertising channels and insurers. Maintaining all these registrations and policies is complex and time consuming, and especially so, when the business owner is trying to focus on establishing their core business.

“If you’re thinking about establishing a small business, and wanting to get it right and succeed, but not sure how to get started, afirmo is your place to start, set-up and run your business from. It is technology’s answer to small business problems” he says.

Afirmo customers will have access to tools and tips on all the essentials of small business – from getting a New Zealand business number, registering for GST or setting up PAYE, and much more. Once those fundamentals are set up, afirmo customers will be able use the afirmo app to create branding, set-up their website and social media marketing, and more.

The afirmo app will track a business’s development and will grow with it, presenting tools and advice based on the business’s growth path and owner’s preferences.

Rolls, who has worked for many years supporting small business operators, understands the strains and pains for people who go out on their own to establish a new business – he says “on one hand it is really exciting deciding to start a small business – being in the driver’s seat, being the boss, but on the other hand, it is confusing and risky because while these people may be great florists, plumbers, designers, or photographers, often they have a significant knowledge gap in running a business – that’s why I’ve created afirmo – so people with drive and determination to be the best providers of something, can be, despite not having business experience”.

He says, “We are going to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with tools and services to get them quickly set up and to manage their businesses efficiently and effectively to get great results for themselves, their customers and society. And we will encourage inclusion and diversity and will go out of our way to support
minority and disadvantaged groups”.

New Zealand is a nation of small businesses – approximately 530,000 of them, contributing over a quarter of the country’s gross domestic product and it is a sector afirmo is committed to looking after. “We are bringing initiatives that will mean small business owners have access to the tools they need”.

Rolls says that “Here at afirmo we recognise the recovery of the small business sector in the post Covid era will be important for everyone – for customers, for communities, for the wellbeing of business owners, and for the economy, so we are committed to giving the owners of small businesses the tools they will need not to just survive, but to succeed, and succeed really well”.

The team at afirmo knows setting up and running a business can be isolating – long hours spent alone, in the back room, working towards getting the show on the road. Rolls says “afirmo customers will never be alone because they will be able to connect with other afirmo users though our community hub and gain access to our small business community. They can also connect with afirmo experts to help with guidance on funding, insurance, tax and all the other complex challenges that might be facing their business”.

The digital platform means access is possible on the move, enabling business owners to reach out for afirmo at any time – the app displays all the key information the owner has entered in their business profile – so whenever the information is needed, it can be easily accessed.

With the launch date four months away Rolls is looking forward to seeing the afirmo app in action, making life easier for the small business sector, bringing simplicity to areas in business, that have in the past been made to be complicated.

Custom Branded New Zealand drops all non-filter cotton masks

0

Source: Press Release Service

On Monday 17th January 2022 Custom Branded stopped branding all non-filter cotton face masks and suggested other branders do the same.

With recent reporting scoring some cotton face masks blocking as few as 26.5% of particles Custom Branded has stopped selling all other brands they once stocked, effective immediately. “Our own supplied masks have always had filter pockets however we were also using several other brands under the impression they were significantly more effective than they are,” says Daniel Sharp of Custom Branded.

The remaining variant supports pm2.5 filters, which are available from various outlets and can be replaced with surgical mask material cut to shape at a push.

With a pm2.5 filter cotton masks are reported as blocking up to 60% of particles or more, beating out surgical masks which block 38.5%. However Daniel stresses that “fit is also extremely important, with surgical masks, simply knotting the loops will tighten the fit and enhance the performance,”.

Even though Custom Branded’s own offering can be effective when paired with a filter, they are now advising clients who spend periods of time in high risk areas to swap out to n95 or p2 masks. They have previously published an article to help those with home made masks to improve their level of protection however are advising anyone with a filter incompatible mask to move to a different mask as soon as practicable.

Crafting Talent in Hospitality and Tourism with Micro-Credentials

0

Source: Press Release Service – New Zealand

“We shine the light on the best New Zealand has to offer in terms of fresh ingredients, transformed into outstanding cuisine, exceptional wines and beverages, our spectacular scenery captured by so many memorable tourism experiences, yet as nation, we still struggle to understand and tell this story”, comments Celia Hay, director of the New Zealand School of Food and Wine.

With NZQA approval for 13 micro-credentials, the New Zealand School Food and Wine hopes to inspire and attract new people to jobs in hospitality, wine and tourism and also enhance wider community understanding of our food and beverage story. “We export food and wine to the world, yet pride in this achievement is often lacking by our own communities,” say Hay.

Crisis

“There is a crisis right now because job-seekers, including school leavers, are being pushed into other industries especially the building trades. There is a perfect storm of government incentives paid to employers, along with negative counsel from career advisors and families warning young people off seeking careers in hospitality and tourism. This is resulting in a critical lack of workers.

“In developing this suite of short, part-time micro-credentials that range from classic cooking to food and beverage history to food costing and digital marketing, we are seeking to inspire people to dip their toes into our sector, even if they are currently working or studying elsewhere.

“In addition, these micro-credentials enable people already employed to develop new skills and craft new talents but also to signal that this career pathways is valid, diverse and on-going. Just look at our food heros, like Peter Gordon and Annabel Langbein, now in their 60s, with a tremendous backstory.

“From the various lockdowns, we know that people find joy in cooking and that people are curious to develop new talents in the kitchen; that wine and cocktails are cool and fun; that an important part of any tourism destination is the food and beverage offering whether as a winery cellar door experience or paddock to plate cuisine,” says Celia Hay

Online Options

Online study options are embedded in a many of the short programmes, enabling people from around the country to study about New Zealand wine or learn how to write an electronic newsletter or find out more about our food history.

“The micro-credentials are equally suitable for the consumer; the food and wine lover who just wants to learn more. In building broader community understanding and respect for the food and beverage culture of Aotearoa-New Zealand inevitably we will see more people attracted to work in our sector. That is the shared goal of these new programmes,” comments Celia Hay.

VWO and 10XL partner to offer cutting-edge CRO solutions to New Zealand brands

0

Source: Press Release Service

VWO, the experimentation platform used by fast-growing brands the world over, recently announced a partnership with 10XL, an Auckland-based team of marketing veterans that helps eCommerce brands in New Zealand and Australia grow through data-driven insight.

New Zealand (NZ) as a market has great enthusiasm, and entrepreneurial spirit. There is untapped potential in the country’s ability to adapt and improvise with available resources. There is also a gap in the understanding of growth hacking, in reality, this has more to do with creating effective messaging and value proposition and less with spending a large amount of money on building a new website. Currently, an average CMO’s relationship with the board may not be persuasive enough to get the budget sanctions needed to test ambitious ideas.

The NZ market thus presents a wide scope of opportunities – what is required is the realigning of expectations around which Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) tactics work in the local context.

The strategic partnership between VWO and 10XL is positioned to bridge the gap and help brands allocate resources to meaningful experiments.
While VWO puts marketers one step ahead of conventional experimentation tools, 10XL brings in the expertise to drive long-term performance for eCommerce brands. Together they are placed strongly to help NZ brands grow sustainably and profitably.

“We’re excited to partner with 10XL and confident that together we will be able to deliver CRO solutions that appeal in the local context to NZ brands and help marketers build a sustainable culture of experimentation in their organisations. VWO brings ease into experimentation that allows clients to weave a complete picture of their users to create delightful digital experiences. Add to this what 10XL brings to the table – strategic marketing expertise coupled with data insights and the know-how on what works in the NZ market – and it’s a win-win offering for potential clients in the region.”, says Sparsh Gupta, CEO, Wingify.

Through this partnership, 10XL aims to be of service to established NZ brands looking to optimise their performance through a ‘test and learn’ approach. They want to build not just better websites but help build better marketers and high-growth kiwi brands that compete successfully on an international stage.

“We see ourselves as the consumer experts in the local NZ market. The marketing mix that works in NZ very rarely works internationally, so we help teams understand and quantify that difference – VWO’s global reach, mature testing experience, and exceptional support will serve as the icing on a very delicious 10XL cake. The fact that VWO is a tightly integrated stack is the cherry on top. As marketers, we surround ourselves with so much digital complexity, it’s refreshing when a software partner like VWO comes along to help simplify that.”, says Christopher Andrew, Managing Director, 10XL.

About 10XL
10XL is part digital marketing agency, part eCommerce insights studio. They connect the dots between ideation and delivery for their clients and put customer experience ahead of any specific platform needs. They help brands drive long-term revenue growth by improving marketing activity across the entire customer lifecycle through research, data, and strategy. Their competitive advantage lies in their partnerships and collaboration with market-leading digital platforms, thinkers, and implementation specialists. The team’s diverse eCommerce expertise has helped brands in 20+ countries generate more than 100 million in online sales.

About VWO
VWO helps 2500+ brands in more than 90 countries create and deliver digital experiences loved by their customers. It is a connected platform that offers insights into visitor behaviour, planning and A/B testing capabilities, and easy deployment of changes – all within the same environment. Scalable Businesses With Growth Opportunities in Short Supply

0

Source: Press Release Service – Business

In November 2021 Platform 1 conducted a market survey titled: Attitudes To Entering Business Ownership Following Covid 19.

Data from this survey of potential future business acquirers shows that despite the pandemic, there is still not enough scalable businesses available. Over 65% of all respondents mentioned that they were finding it hard to find a scalable business with growth opportunities. This increased to 77% when measured only against those exclusively looking for a business. They also mentioned that many of the businesses available were too small.

When questioned on whether the pandemic was impacting their decision to buy into a business, only 38% said it had made them reconsider.

When asked whether buying into a business gradually would interest them more than an outright purchase, 65% said yes, while 32% said both options would suit them. The remaining 3% said no or not applicable.

Platform 1 Director Mike Warmington said “One of the more common questions we get from people looking at opportunities, is that scalable businesses are in short supply. People leaving a successful corporate career are wanting to apply their skills to innovate and grow a business, often using technology as an enabler. They are not looking to simply replace their salary.”

The open rate on opportunity emails to the Platform 1 potential acquirer database has increased from 33% to 40% from June to October 2021. Click through rates have nearly tripled, reinforcing the strong interest from prospective business owners in looking for “skin in the game”. It could well be the perfect time for owners to exit while the talent pool of entrepreneurs is available.

At the same time there has been a noticeable lift in interest from business owners looking at exit strategies. Many baby boomer owners are simply over this environment and “Covid Fatigue” has set in. Platform 1’s newly engaged client numbers have more than doubled in the second half of 2021, compared to the first half of the year, despite lockdowns.

Mike Warmington stated “Some owners were ready last year and delayed their plans for a perceived better time. It’s now nineteen months later and there is a realisation that they need to get on with it so they have come back to us. “

While there has been talk for ten years or more of the tsunami of business owners looking to exit, we still have not seen the rush. The reasons to wait are decreasing and we expect the current elevated activity in the business exit space to dramatically increase in 2022.
