State Highway 1, between Blenheim and Seddon is closed following a serious crash.
Emergency services were alerted to the two vehicle crash around 8.15pm.
Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Diversions are in place on Awatere Valley Road and Taylor Pass Road.
There are no diversions in place for heavy goods vehicles.
