Emergency services are responding to a single-vehicle crash that has closed the southbound lane of State Highway 2 at Whakamarama.
One person has received serious injuries after being ejected from the vehicle.
The crash was reported about 7.45pm, and happened near the intersection of Wainui South Road.
The highway remains open to northbound traffic, but anyone heading south is asked to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
