Police have laid further charges on two people following the death of a man in Mangamuka on 3 March.
A 38-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman will appear in the Whangārei District court today charged with murder.
Both were already before the court on charges of assault and possession of an offensive weapon, respectively.
Police were notified at around 9pm on Sunday 3 March of a person who had been stabbed at the property.
Sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detective Inspector Al Symonds, Northland CIB, says three people have now been arrested and charged in relation to this incident.
“Our investigation teams have worked incredibly hard to reach this point and to piece together the events of that evening.
“We are not seeking anyone else in relation to this case and we want to again reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident,” he says.
“We also recognise this involves the death of a person, which has a significant impact on those closest to the victim and the wider community.
“However, there are now three people before the court and we need to let the judicial process take place.”
Police would still like to thank those members of the public who have provided information which has assisted us in locating these offenders and holding them to account.
