A section of State Highway 14 will be closed following an earlier serious crash near Tangowahine.
The crash involves a single vehicle on State Highway 14 and was reported just after 7am.
Two occupants in the vehicle have sustained injuries. One person is currently in a critical condition and the second in a serious condition.
Emergency services remain at the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit has also been advised and will examine the scene.
State Highway 14 will be closed in both directions where the crash has occurred, which is between the intersections of Tangowahine Settlement Road East and Ounuwhao Road.
Motorists can expect diversions to be in place and should allow additional time to reach their destinations safely.
