Death after serious crash, Cable Street, Wellington

One of the pedestrians injured in a crash on Cable Street in Wellington on 18 June has now died.

Police were called to Cable Street at 12.06am after a report of a crash involving a car and two pedestrians.

The pedestrians were transported to hospital – one in a serious condition, and one critical.

A 23-year-old man was charged in relation to the crash the same day.

Tragically, the pedestrian who had been in a critical condition died in hospital yesterday (5 July).

Our sincere condolences go out to their family and friends at this difficult time.

Further charges for the 23-year-old man are likely.
