Hutt Road, Pipitea has reopened following an earlier crash.
A truck hit the bridge, near the Thorndon Quay off-ramp, at around 6.30am.
Traffic management was in place while crews worked to remove the truck.
Motorists are thanked for their patience and cooperation while the scene was cleared.
