Police are advising motorists Whangārei Heads Road, Tamaterau, is currently closed following an earlier crash.
The crash, involving one vehicle, was reported to Police around 3.50pm.
Initial indications suggest one person has received serious injuries.
The road is likely to remain closed for some time while emergency services attend the scene.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or to take an alternative route where possible.
