Kāpiti-Mana will welcome new Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins, Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Rangitāne o Manawatū, Muaūpoko, in a pōwhiri on Monday, 19 December.
Inspector Perkins is local and has lived in the Kāpiti-Mana area for most of her life.
She began her career in Wellington District and takes up this role with over two and a half decades of policing knowledge and experience. Most recently, this has been in leadership roles within the National Road Policing Centre, the Justice Sector, and the Office of the Commissioner.
With a strong connection to the community, her desire now is to give back, working alongside local Iwi and leaders to look after those who call Kāpiti-Mana home.
