State Highway 1 at Wellsford is expected to open shortly following an earlier crash.
The two-car crash saw five people injured.
Three people in serious condition were taken to Auckland Hospital by helicopter, while two people in moderate condition were taken to North Shore Hospital by ambulance.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene.
