Police can confirm one person has died following a two-vehicle crash on SH2 West, Matata on Thursday night.
One other person was taken to Whakatane Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash was reported to Police shortly after 9pm.
The road is expected to reopen shortly.
