SH1 north of Kaikōura is expected to reopen at 5.30 pm tonight after a serious crash after 1pm involving a bus and a car.

Given the back-log of traffic it will be a slow journey north of Kaikōura tonight, says Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.

The Police Serious Crash Unit will be back on site Saturday so drivers should anticipate Stop/Go manual traffic control and a slower journey through Clarence tonight and Saturday.
