Police can confirm that two people have died following a single vehicle crash on SH 1, Umawera.
Emergency services were notified of the crash around 5:40pm.
Sadly, the two people in the vehicle died at the scene.
One lane of the road has reopened.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.
