Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on State Highway 63, at the intersection with Waihopai Valley Road, west of Renwick.
The two-car crash occurred shortly before 7am.
One person is in a critical condition and a helicopter has been dispatched to the scene.
The road is closed and diversions will be put in place.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
