A man’s due in Hastings District Court today in relation to the burglary of an ATM last month.

Police were called early on the morning of May 31 and discovered that an ATM had been taken from the Meeanee Hotel.

It was recovered several days later on June 2.

Following a search warrant in Napier yesterday, a 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with burglary and with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle which was used in the burglary.

A 27-year-old woman closely linked to this man has been charged with accessory after the fact.

Acting Detective Sergeant Scott Saurin says there has been some outstanding investigative Police work completed by his team over the last month.

“It’s great to be able to get a positive resolution for the victims and the community,” Acting Detective Sergeant Scott Saurin says.

“Although no cash was recovered from this burglary, it is very satisfying for the team to be able to make an arrest in this case.”
