Appeal for witnesses to a fatal crash, SH1, Tirau

Police are appealing for information following the death of a pedestrian on SH1 in Pairere, Tirau on Saturday 12 March.

Initial inquiries indicated the person had been walking on SH1 towards Tirau and Police received several calls from motorists in the area at the time.

The crash occurred around 8:30pm when a man was struck by a vehicle.

Police believe the victim was hit by three subsequent vehicles, of which two have been identified.

The third vehicle is described as a flat deck ute.

Police are interested in making contact with motorists in the area at the time who can help piece together the events leading up to the incident.
