Thanks to our Chancellor Rob Campbell and Dave Letele, BBM Motivation and the Office of Pacific Advancement (in collaboration with the Student Hub) have been assisting AUT students in need with Whānau boxes for the past four weeks.
The team has been supplementing financial grant applications with Whānau box deliveries to students and their families, who are mostly in South Auckland.
This quiet initiative even had the NZ Police helping out by delivering almost 100 boxes of food to students and their whanau, including some who were in MIQ, who received the deliveries as soon as they returned home.
The boxes included essentials and healthy options such as cereal, meat, fruit and vegetables, noodles, pasta and toilet paper.
“We want to make sure that the parcels have good food, that the families can eat for the whole week,” Dave said.
