Information sought after aggravated robbery in Christchurch

Police are investigating a serious incident that occurred in Opawa Christchurch at around 3.30am on Sunday 13 June.

An 18-year-old returning home disturbed an intruder in their home and they were subsequently seriously assaulted. A family member came to their assistance and was also assaulted. 

Police believed the intervention of the family member stopped any further assault on the person. 

The offender has then left the scene. 

Both victim’s required treatment at hospital and are assisting Police with enquiries.

Police would like to speak to anyone in the Opawa area who had property disturbed on Saturday evening or Sunday morning or has information that would assist the enquiry
