Printmaker Valerie Cuthbert showcases her new prints in this tribute exhibition to the rich diversity of Tiritiri Matangi.
After a teaching career of 30 years I retired in 2000 and decided to become the artist I’d always dreamed of being.
I painted canvases for several years until I discovered printmaking and never looked back, buying my own press and setting up a studio at home.
I teach an advanced class in printmaking at home once a week and run other classes at Estuary Arts Centre, Orewa, where I also exhibit my work.
I live at Stanmore Bay on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula so it is natural for me to look at birds and coastal features as a source of images for printmaking.
