22 APRIL 2020FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responding to details of a sexual harassment investigation surrounding Wairoa Mayor Craig Little, New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union spokesman Louis Houlbrooke says:”This is an appalling disregard for transparency from Wairoa District Council, and it stinks of being politically convenient for the mayor. The Council’s refusal to release this information meant that voters were deprived of knowledge that could have changed how they voted in last year’s local election.””As for the $55,000 cost to ratepayers for this saga, which included a payment to the complainant: the Mayor needs to pay it back. When Len Brown was investigated for his improper behaviour, he chipped in $40,000 to help cover costs. Where’s this kind of humility from Mayor Little?”
