Police have charged a woman with attempted murder following an incident in Glendene on Sunday night.

Police were called to Kirby Street at around 11.40pm following reports a person had been injured.

Detective Senior Sergeant Adam Lough, Waitematā West Area Investigations Manager, says upon Police arrival two people were located with injuries consistent with knife wounds.

“Neighbours came to these people’s aid prior to emergency services arriving on the scene.

“We are very grateful for their assistance and bravery with what can only be described as a very confronting and upsetting scene.”

Two people were transported to hospital in a critical condition, with a third also transported to hospital with moderate injuries.

“One person has undergone surgery and remains in a critical condition,” Detective Senior Sergeant Lough says.

“Another person suffered moderate injuries and is recovering at home.”

The third person is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The investigation remains ongoing with Police piecing together the events leading up to the incident.

“We appreciate the public’s interest in what has occurred here,” Detective Senior Sergeant Lough says.

“However, the welfare of two people is at the forefront of this, and their privacy is paramount as they recover from this traumatic event.”

All parties involved are known to each other and Police are not looking for anyone else in connection.

A 33-year-old woman is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court today via a bedside hearing.
