State Highway 1 is blocked at the intersection with Horahora Road in Piarere following a crash.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:25pm.
Two people have sustained moderate injuries, a further two have been seriously injured.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
