Further arrest made in relation to youth offending, Christchurch

A second young person has been arrested in Christchurch overnight, in relation to an aggravated robbery on Wairakei Road on Sunday 30 November.

The 17-year-old handed himself in to Police yesterday evening, and will appear before the Youth Court today, charged with aggravated robbery.

This is the second arrest since Police launched an operation yesterday that will enhance our resources and capabilities to target the recent rise in youth offending around the region.

Police staff around the region will continue to use all available resources to identify and locate those involved in recent youth offending, and ensure they are held to account.

We urge anybody else who has been involved in this activity to do the right thing, and talk to Police.
