There were 3,747 new homes consented in Aotearoa New Zealand in September 2025, up 27 percent compared with September 2024, according to figures released by Stats NZ today.
When seasonal effects are excluded, the number of new homes consented in September 2025 rose 7.2 percent compared with August 2025.

“Residential construction has declined in recent years, but home consents have been trending up through 2025 and have strengthened in recent months, suggesting a possible lift in future building activity.”
