A homicide investigation is underway and Police have arrested two people following the death of a man in Mount Wellington this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Tomuri Place just before 1.30pm following reports of a person being stabbed at the address.

Acting Field Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, says Police were notified that an altercation had taken place at the property, during which a man received critical injuries.

Sadly, despite best efforts from emergency services, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“We know this may have been a shock to the community, but we would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.”

An increased Police presence will remain in the area and cordons will be in place while the scene examination continues.

At this stage, Police are not in a position to release details of the deceased.

Any further updates will be issued proactively.
