New Zealand Police is pleased to announce that the 374-recruit wing will be graduating from their initial training course on Thursday 23 May in front of whānau and friends.
Attending the ceremony will be Commissioner Andrew Coster and the Police executive, The Minister of Police Hon Mark Mitchell, and Wing Patron, retired sergeant Alan Richards.
Alan says “it has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of Wing 374’s journey as their patron.”
Nearly 50 years ago he left the Metropolitan Police in England to start his recruit training in the New Zealand Police. His wife and young family joined him once he had graduated and was posted to his first New Zealand frontline position.
Last year Alan celebrated 60 combined years of Metropolitan Police and New Zealand Police Service combined.
Wing 374’s six prize-winners are spread across several policing jurisdictions, namely Eastern, Southern, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, and Tasman Districts.
More details about statistics, prize winners and other recruits will be shared on graduation day.
Media are welcome to attend the graduation parade which takes place at Te Rauparaha Arena, Main Arena, 17 Parumoana Street, Porirua.
The ceremony starts at 2pm, media are encouraged to be in place by 1.30pm.
