Police responded to a one vehicle crash on Selwyn Road near Robinsons Road, Rolleston, Selwyn District.
The crash was reported around 5am, and one person has died at the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit responded to the scene and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the crash.
The road is closed, and diversions are in place.
