Emergency services are responding to a single-vehicle crash on Victoria Street, Wellington Central reported just before 1pm.
One person is in a serious condition and is being transported to hospital.
The Serious Crash Unit have been notified and the road is closed from Willeston Street to Harris Street.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
