Police are appealing for information after a man was found with serious injuries in Wainui, Gisborne, last week.
The man was located in a serious condition on Moana Road, under the Okitu Bridge, around 10:30am on Sunday 22 October.
The man was transported to Waikato Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition. A scene examination has been conducted.
Initial Police inquiries, which remain ongoing, have established that he is a Wainui man who lives a short distance from the bridge. He walks daily, usually mid-morning, from his home on Wairere Road to the Makarori Headland and back.
He is described as reasonably frail. He has a slight build, is 160cm and walks with a slight stoop.
On this occasion, he was wearing a thin blue long sleeve thermal top, black fleecey trackpants and brown/black tramping boots.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this man on Sunday morning or who has any information as to how he may have sustained his injuries.
This would include anyone who has CCTV of the Wairere Road (Ocean Park end) and Okitu Bridge area.
