A section of the southbound lane on State Highway 1 between Levin and Foxton will be closed next week for maintenance.

Between Monday 30 October and Friday 3 November, crews will carry out essential maintenance work and flexible median barrier repair at Manawatū Bridge (Whirokino).

A signposted detour will be in place for southbound traffic between 9am – 3pm each day. Northbound traffic will remain on the highway, with a reduced speed limit in place.

Southbound traffic will be detoured down Union Street, onto Foxton Shannon Road, onto SH57 and through Shannon, then onto Queen Street East and into Levin.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these works.

Waka Kotahi is also planning night-time maintenance works on SH1 in and around Levin. We will continue to update road users as the timeframe for the works gets closer.

Please be prepared to see crews out and about on our state highway network with a range of rebuilding and resurfacing programmes planned throughout spring and summer.
