Two men will be put before the Court today following an incident in Mount Wellington late last night.
Just before 11.30pm, Police were made aware of an alarm going off at a large commercial premises on Lunn Avenue.
Auckland City East Prevention Manager, Inspector Rachel Dolheguy, says Police staff arrived quickly to catch the offenders in the act.
“Police were on the scene within minutes of the alarm going off and located both of the alleged offenders in a vehicle in the car park.
“Our staff found several items of stolen status inside the vehicle.”
The two men were taken into custody without incident, and investigation officers found that they had cut a hole in the security perimeter fence to gain entry into the premises.
“Not only are we delighted to have been able to make these arrests so swiftly, but also to be able to return the stolen property,” she says.
Two men, aged 50 and 36, are due to appear in the Auckland District Court today on burglary charges.
“This is another example of our staff responding and apprehending those who are committing offending against businesses in our communities,” Inspector Dolheguy says.
“Police continue to have no tolerance for this sort of offending and will hold those committing this harm to account.”
