Charges laid following aggravated robbery, Strathmore Park

Attributable to Acting Detective Senior Sergeant, James Stewart, Wellington City Investigations Manager:

A man has been arrested and charged following an aggravated robbery at a Wellington bar, Sunday 6 August.

At around 9:30pm, two men drove up and walked into the Strathmore Local on Strathmore Avenue, and allegedly threatened workers with a knife and a bat. Cash was stolen. 

This morning, Police including CIB and the armed offenders squad executed a search warrant at a residential address in Strathmore Park.

A 45-year-old man is due to appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow, 16 September, on charges of aggravated robbery.

Police would like to thank the members of the public who provided information which has helped to advance this investigation.

Wellington CIB are following strong lines of enquiry to identify and hold further offenders to account.
