State Highway 2, Greytown to Carterton, closed due to serious incident

Drivers travelling in Wairarapa can expect delays as Police investigate an incident on State Highway 2 north of Greytown that occurred earlier this morning.

UPDATE: State Highway 2, Greytown to Carterton, now open following serious incident

Update 11.20 am:

The highway has now reopened to all traffic. However, drivers may experience delays as queued traffic clears.

Waka Kotahi wants to thank motorists for their patience and cooperation this morning.


Update 9.20am:

The incident was reported around 7 am this morning, with Police confirming man has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

State Highway 2 is currently closed between North Street and Waihakeke Road.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible. The highway is expected to be closed for several hours while Police complete their investigations.
