Police continue to make progress in relation to two burglaries in Whakatāne on Anzac Day, with another young person referred to Youth Aid in relation to the offences.

About 3.45am on 25 April, Police received a report that a vehicle had been used to enter a dairy on Appenzell Drive, and items were taken.

Then about 4.55am, Police were called to Bridge Street, Edgecumbe, following a report of a burglary at a service station, where a window had been smashed and entry gained.

An earlier search warrant at a Kawerau address resulted in items relating to the burglaries being recovered and a young person being taken into custody and charged.

Today detectives executed a further search warrant at a Kawerau address, and further items relating to the burglary were recovered.

A young person has been referred to Youth Aid.

There are still outstanding offenders in relation to these incidents, and Police are now asking them to come forward as our investigation continues.

Similarly we would like to hear from anyone with information about those involved in these incidents.

Police are actively investigating car crime within Kawerau and the wider Eastern Bay of Plenty, and would like to hear from anyone with information that will assist Police with holding offenders to account and putting a stop to this offending.
