Police can now release the name of the person who died following a crash on State Highway 1 on 30 April.
He was Robert Burns Hutcheon, 70, of Lyttelton.
Police extends its condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
