Emergency services are responding to a two-vehicle collision on State Highway 35, Wainui.
The crash was reported at 9.45am.
Initial reports suggest one person is in a critical condition and one person has received minor injuries.
The road is closed between Murdoch Road and Oneroa Road and is expected to be closed for several hours.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as there are no diversions.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
