Residents and regular users on State Highway 6, Gladstone Road, in Nelson need to be ready for roadworks beginning Sunday, 16 April.

Contractors will be resurfacing the road at night between 16 April and 30 April. The works will be carried out between 7pm and 7am. There will be no work done on the night of 24 April because of the ANZAC Day Holiday.

The resurfacing works are due to be completed by 7am, Sunday 30 April. Contractors will do their best to meet this schedule. However, weather, and unforeseen circumstances could create delays.

Temporary speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place while the work is done. Entry to and exit from King Street onto State Highway 6, Gladstone Road, will be restricted with detours in place during working hours.

The resurfacing works have been timed to happen at night to create as little disruption for road users as possible. It is also important the route be available for peak commuting traffic during the day.

It is estimated the roadworks will add about five minutes to travel times through the area. Waka Kotahi wants to thank affected residents and drivers for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed. This is important work and essential for maintaining the resilience of State Highway 6.
