Police investigating fatal crash – Kaitaia

Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Kaitaia on Friday 31 March.

Emergency services responded to reports of the crash on Wireless Road around 11.45pm.

One person was taken to hospital in a critical condition, however sadly died in hospital as a result of their injuries soon after.

As part of our investigation, Police are trying to piece together the events that occurred leading up to the crash, and we are appealing to the public for assistance.

We are asking anyone who was in the area between 11.30pm-12am to please get in touch.

Anyone else who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash is also asked to contact Police via our 105 phone service or online at https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using Update My Report.
