Update: Central Dunedin crash

One person has died following an incident in central Dunedin this morning.

The incident was reported to Police at 7.55am.

Initial information indicates that a truck has struck a pedestrian, who tragically died at the scene, before colliding with several vehicles.

The Serious Crash Unit is at the scene, working to piece together exactly what has happened.

Road closures are expected to remain in place for several hours to allow for a scene examination to take place.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and follow the directions of emergency services staff.
