Police were called about 5.15am.
Initial reports suggest one person is in a moderate condition.
The road is closed with no diversions in place.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
In particular, those travelling to Picton to catch the ferry should be aware this road closure will affect your journey. Please plan ahead and remain patient as significant delays are likely.
